The Nashville Metropolitan Transit Authority (Nashville MTA) provides public transportation services to citizens and visitors in Nashville-Davidson County by offering more than 35 bus routes, including eight which travel outside of the county through a contract with the Regional Transportation Authority of Middle Tennessee (RTA).

The Nashville MTA and RTA are committed to ensuring that no person is excluded from participation in, or denied the benefits of its services or programs on the basis of race, color, or national origin as afforded under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Title VI Program Updates

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is the Federal law that protects individuals from discrimination on the basis of their race, color, or national origin in programs that receive Federal financial assistance. WeGo Public Transit Title VI policy is intended to ensure equity and equal access in the provision of public transportation services in Davidson County regardless of race, national origin, or income. This includes ensuring that any changes to service or fares do not create a disparate impact on minority populations or place disproportionate burden on low-income populations.

Every three years, WeGo staff reviews and updates the agencies’ policies and programs. The three-year review allows us to take a look at how we’ve done, assess any demographic changes to the communities we serve, and alter any policies based on a transparent process with the community.

WeGo Public Transit held two public meetings in October during a 21-day open comment period from October 10-31. Staff will be presenting final versions of the documents at the Nashville MTA and RTA November board meetings for approval.
